Shooting Update

Still on my way to Mooresboro but wanted to pull over and give an update with what I've learned just in the past 15 minutes.

Got a call from Lt. Durwin Briscoe at the sheriff's office.

Briscoe said the victim (pictured), Terry Ray Petty, was shot in the leg and foot from a single round. Petty was treated and released from the hospital and investigators are currently compiling a line up of suspects.

Petty has already told investigators he knows the identity of the gunman. Briscoe said warrants would be obtained for an arrest after Petty picks the suspect out of the line up.

"The motive he gave us was it was over a Social Security check," Briscoe said.

Investigators have yet to find evidence to support that motive.

A handgun was the only item reported stolen from Petty's home following the shooting.

Briscoe said he is very confident an arrest in the case will be made shortly.
