K-9s and Self Defense

Here are some photos taken Thursday night during the Citizens Police Academy. Usually I would take full credit for these but all of them - save the K-9 photo at the end - were taken by Officer Shannon Porter.

Highlights of the class included a K-9 demonstration and a lesson on self-defense, specifically pressure points.

Here in this first photo, I'm preparing to have a pressure point applied on me by fellow classmate Joshua Drum.
















The K-9 demonstration, overseen by K-9 trainer Howard Young, included two of the department's dogs conducting a search between three boxes. One of the boxes included a kilo of cocaine.
