Crime Briefs

These are incidents and arrests that were recently on file with local law enforcement agencies. Those arrested are innocent until found guilty in a court of law. (M) refers to misdemeanor crimes, (F) refers to felonies.

INCIDENTS

Crime: Common law robbery
Date reported: Sept. 16, 9:10 p.m.
Address: 518 Carolina Ave.
Description: Perry Kilgore and Teresa Cattone told police they were flagged down by a group of men on Carolina Avenue in front of the Sanitary Barber Shop. One of the men reportedly punched Kilgore in the face and took the car keys. After both left the car, Cattone suffered minor abrasions after she was assaulted by two women, who then stole her cell phone. The men told Kilgore they would return the car at 10:30 p.m. after they go to Charlotte. The women who assaulted Cattone were described as black, one wearing a yellow and white t-shirt with blue jeans and the other a gold dress with flowers on it.

Crime: Possession of a firearm by felon
Date reported: Sept. 14, 9:56 p.m.
Address: Taco Bell, 331 W. Dixon Blvd.
Description: Employees reportedly called police after seeing a customer with a gun. Officers responded and identified the customer as 39-year-old Mark Anthony Catlin, of Falls Street in Lawndale. Catlin, a convicted felon, was arrested and held with a $1,000 secured bond.

Crime: Breaking and entering of a motor vehicle
Date reported: Sept. 15, 10:56 a.m.
Address: 825 Hawthorne Road
Description: Edward Heitzman told police someone had gone through he and his wife’s vehicles but did not notice anything missing.

Crime: Breaking and entering of a motor vehicle
Date reported: Sept. 16, 11:01 a.m.
Address: 310 Belvedere Avenue
Description: Jonathan Brownlee told police someone had gone into his car and taken $40 cash, his wallet and an iPod charger. Officer P.D. Emory later found Brownlee’s driver’s license, Social Security card and other cards after checking the area of East Warren Street.

Crime: Arson
Date reported: Sept. 19, 8:53 p.m.
Address: Zoar Baptist Church, 1740 South Lafayette Street
Description: Damages were estimated at $8,000 after police say a fire was intentionally set at the church.

Crime: Hit and Run
Date reported: Sept. 19, 9:34 a.m.
Address: South Dekalb Street near Textile Street
Description: Two stop signs and utility poles were damaged after someone struck the items with their car and drove off, causing $2,000 in damages.

Crime: Larceny
Date reported: Sept. 19, 3:54 p.m.
Address: 506 Country Club Circle
Description: Rebecca Harley told police several items had been stolen from her basement over the course of a few weeks, including a Minolta digital camera and JVC camcorder.

ARRESTS

Name: Roheem Eugene Roberts
Age: 22
Address: 910 Apt. C Foxcroft Circle
Date of arrest: Sept. 16, 2:10 a.m.
Charges: Possession of crack cocaine (F), driving while intoxicated (M), driving while license revoked (M)
Place of arrest: South Morgan Street near Gardner Street
Description: Roberts was pulled over by police for having a broken taillight on his Ford Explorer but, before heading to the police car’s lights and siren, was seen throwing an object out of his vehicle. The officer later found the object – a plastic bag with 17 grams of crack cocaine inside.
Bond: $7,500 secured

Name: Alan Kyle Davis
Age: 38
Address: 710 Nalley Drive
Date of arrest: Sept. 17, 12:03 a.m.
Charges: Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance (F)
Place of arrest: Parking lot of Big Lots, 1645 E. Dixon Blvd.
Description: Davis was found in possession of crack cocaine.
Bond: $500 secured
Agency: Shelby Police

Name: Chad Christopher Holland
Age: 34
Address: 209 Lily Street
Date of arrest: Sept. 15, 11:12 p.m.
Charges: Assault inflicting serious bodily injury (F)
Place of arrest: Home
Description: Holland was served with a warrant for his arrest.
Bond: $5,000 secured
Agency: Shelby Police

Name: Navor Williams
Age: 19
Address: 6022 Deep Green Drive
Date of arrest: Sept. 19, 9:28 a.m.
Charges: Assault with a deadly weapon (F)
Place of arrest: Cleveland County Law Enforcement Center, 100 Justice Place
Description: Williams was served with a warrant for his arrest.
Bond: $1,000 secured
Agency: Shelby Police
