Where in the world is John Derrick?

I've been asked many times over the past year, "How's John Derrick doing?"

For those that don't know, John was a photographer here at The Star for about 2 years. He left last June to start law school at Chapel Hill.

Myself and Lifestyles Editor Emily Killian met up with him Friday while we were in town for training.

Here's a shot taken at The Top of the Hill bar which overlooks Franklin Street near campus.

John's doing well, but he admitted studying a book is vastly different from chasing police sirens.
