Giving Back to the Streets
We've got a new package online that I wanted to help get the word out about.
Last week I did an hour-long sit-down interview with Larry Hill, who spent more than a decade in prison and is now trying to do his part to make Shelby a safer place to live.
Pessimistic? It's a natural response. But an hour speaking with Hill, the bishop of his church and local police led me to believe he's legit and passionate.
Joy Scott and Alan Beam, our website crew, helped put together a page to help tell Hill's story - through both the article and the 5-part video interview. It's good stuff, check it out if you get the chance.

Hill is very blunt about his drug history and life in prison - from robbing customers that owed him money to seeing a prison rape. He's hoping that being upfront will help put today's youth on a better path.
I spoke with him again on the phone this afternoon and we're going to plan to visit some neighborhoods together next week. So look for that soon in The Star.
