These are incidents and arrests that were recently on file with local law enforcement agencies.

Those arrested are innocent until found guilty in a court of law. (M) refers to misdemeanor crimes, (F) refers to felonies.

Addresses are in Shelby unless otherwise noted.

INCIDENTS

Crime: Breaking and entering of a residence, larceny
Date reported: Jan. 1, 8:42 p.m.
Address: 418 Miles Road
Description: Cassandra McDowell told police someone entered her home – possibly through an unlocked window – and took several items belonging to her 14-year-old son, including a yellow BMX bicycle, clothing and $50 cash.

Crime: Breaking and entering, armed robbery
Date reported: Dec. 27, 8:05 p.m.
Address: 240 W. Grover St. Apt. 16
Description: Stephen Page, who is hearing impaired, told police a man dressed all in black came into his apartment after Page opened the door, pulled out a gun and demanded money. The gunman took Page’s bank card and a Playstation game before leaving.

Crime: Obtaining property by false pretenses
Date reported: Dec. 28, 12:03 p.m.
Address: 526 S. Lafayette St.
Description: Dorothy Carter told police a family member had been writing checks on her account and cashing them to get the money. A total of seven checks, written out for $520, were reported.

Description: Johnny Searight told police a central heat pump, valued at $3,000, was stolen from the location.

Crime: Assault with a deadly weapon
Date reported: Dec. 28, 3:47 a.m.
Address: Gum Street near Dover Street
Description: Timothy Kirkland told police he and a friend were walking on Gum Street when gunshots rang out. A short time later, after running from the scene, he noticed he had been shot in the ankle.

Crime: 1st degree rape
Date reported: Dec. 30, 9:22 p.m.
Address: Shelby
Description: A woman reported she had been raped by five men behind the store across from Sims Pool Hall.

Crime: Breaking and entering of a motor vehicle
Date reported: Dec. 31, 1:08 a.m.
Address: Wal-Mart, 703 E. Dixon Blvd.
Description: Gary Yarger said he parked his truck near the garden center at Wal-Mart and someone broke into his car and stole an iPod.

Crime: Breaking and entering, larceny
Date reported: Dec. 28, 6:51 p.m.
Address: Southern Style, 915 Fallston Road
Description: The restaurant was reportedly broken into via a window, food was missing from the freezer, the cash register was damaged and an unknown amount of money was taken. The power meter of the business was disconnected so the suspect could get inside.

Crime: Breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, larceny
Date reported: Dec. 29, 4:58 p.m.
Address: Cleveland Mall, 2001 E. Dixon Blvd.
Description: Brandon Jordan told police he was working at Sears when someone reportedly used a screwdriver to unlock the passenger door of his car. The person then took a Magellan Maestro navigation system, valued at $350, and left $400 in damages to the passenger side door. Two similar crimes were reported within the area at around the same time.

Crime: Breaking and entering of a motor vehicle
Date reported: Dec. 29, 4:08 p.m.
Address: Alltel, 1105 E. Dixon Blvd.
Description: Ronny Ledford told police he left his truck unlocked and returned 10 minutes later to find his dash had been pulled apart, the DVD / CD player had been stolen along with digital camera and checkbook.

Crime: Larceny
Date reported: Dec. 29, 6:08 p.m.
Address: The Clock, 210 W. Dixon Blvd.
Description: Joey Barnes, restaurant manager, told police someone stole pieces of the restaurant’s satellite dish between Dec. 28 at 11:30 p.m. and Dec. 29 at 5:30 a.m.

ARRESTS

Name: Ryan Sanchez Smith
Age: 18
Address: 317 Best St.
Date of arrest: Jan. 1, 3:42 a.m.
Charges: Armed robbery (F), possession of a handgun by minor (M), simple possession of a schedule VI controlled substance (M)
Place of arrest: 421 Crawford St.
Description: Smith was arrested in connection with the armed robbery of Eric Thompson in which $60 was taken. Thompson told police he saw the suspect go into the Crawford Street home. When police arrived, they searched the home with consent from the homeowner and found Smith on a couch in the basement, with clothing nearby that matched that of the suspect. A gun said to be used in the robbery along with 19 grams of marijuana were also found near Smith.

Age: 33
Date of arrest: Dec. 31, 9:22 p.m.
Charges: Larceny (M), possession of stolen property (M), failure to appear – speeding to allude (F)
Place of arrest: Wyke Road near Cherryville Road
Bond: $10,500 secured

Name: Chadwick Sentell Brooks
Age: 23
Address: 851 Applegate Drive
Date of arrest: Dec. 30, 12:00 a.m.
Charges: Possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine (2 counts) (F), possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana (F), simple possession of a schedule VI controlled substance (M), possession of drug paraphernalia (M), maintaining a vehicle for drug distribution (F), assault on a government official (M), resist, obstruct, delay (2 counts) (M)
Place of arrest: Southern Springs Road
Description: Brooks was found in possession of 7.2 grams of marijuana, 2.1 grams of crack cocaine and 1.6 grams of powder cocaine.
Bond: $20,000 secured

Name: Unterio Marquezze Jolly
Age: 17
Date of arrest: Jan. 1, 1:41 p.m.
Charges: Carrying a concealed weapon (M), possession of a handgun by minor (M), assault on an officer (M), resisting a public officer (M), possession of drug paraphernalia (M), possession of marijuana (M)
Place of arrest: Behind 505 Smith St.
Bond: $300 secured

Name: Daniel Golden Byrd

Name: Taurus Lamar Hoey
Age: 30
Address: 113 Felter St.
Date of arrest: Dec. 29, 9:10 p.m.
Charges: Fugitive warrant (F), 2nd degree burglary (F)
Place of arrest: 827 N. Morgan St.
Description: Hoey was arrested after police say he gained entry to the home. Hoey is wanted on charges of strong arm robbery out of Cherokee County, S.C.
Bond: No bond

Name: Dustin Scott Mullinax
Age: 23
Address: 214 Martin St.
Date of arrest: Dec. 29, 9:32 p.m.
Charges: Common law robbery (2 counts) (F)
Place of arrest: Walgreens, 820 E. Grover St.
Description: Police say Mullinax walked into CVS and later Walgreens demanding money from the cashier at each business and claiming a man outside the store had threatened his life if he didn’t take their money. Mullinax was arrested at Walgreens and gave a description of the man who he said made him do it but later admitted there was no man and it was his idea.
Bond: $50,000 secured

Name: Andrew Irwin Jordan
Age: 31
Address: 4249 Peach Orchard Road, Granite Falls
Date of arrest: Dec. 31, 2:22 a.m.
Charges: Breaking and entering (2 counts) (F), larceny (F), possession of burglary tools (M), larceny (M), possession of stolen goods (M)
Place of arrest: 203 W. Dixon Blvd.
Description: Police stopped Jordan and Kevin Dwight Hull as they were walking down the street carrying items and rolling hand trucks. The two claimed their car had broken down and were in town to meet girls they had been talking with on the Internet but police found them in possession of items stolen from A Perfect Find consignment shop, which had been broken into earlier in the morning. Their shoes also matched shoe prints found inside the store.
Bond: $75,000 secured; an additional $2,500 secured

Name: Kevin Dwight Hull
Age: 34
Address: 1193 2nd St., Hickory
Date of arrest: Dec. 29, 2:24 a.m.
Charges: Breaking and entering (2 counts) (F), larceny (F), possession of burglary tools (M), larceny (M), possession of stolen goods (M)
Place of arrest: 203 W. Dixon Blvd.
Description: Police stopped Hull and Andrew Irwin Jordan as they were walking down the street carrying items and rolling hand trucks. The two claimed their car had broken down and were in town to meet girls they had been talking with on the Internet but police found them in possession of items stolen from A Perfect Find consignment shop, which had been broken into earlier in the morning. Their shoes also matched shoe prints found inside the store.

Name: Jonavan Lewis Hopper
Age: 16
Address: 603 Lincoln St.
Date of arrest: Dec. 26, 9:40 p.m.
Charges: Armed robbery (F)
Place of arrest: Home
Description: Hopper and an unidentified 12-year-old boy were taken into custody in connection with the armed robbery of Carl Robbs. Robbs told police that the two boys took $10 from him after one of the boys climbed on top a vacant home and pointed a shotgun at him.
Bond: $200,000 secured
