SPD Ceremony
Shelby Police had a big day last Wednesday. I wasn't able to make it but here are some photos taken during the ceremony at city hall that saw the swearing in of a new officer and public recognition of two others.

Here is Roger Dale Bowen Jr. being sworn in as the latest SPD officer.
A Cleveland County native, he was accompanied by his wife, sons, and extended family.
Officer Shannon M. Porter was recognized for achieving International Crime Prevention Practitioner Specialist status, through the International Crime Prevention Practitioners. This certification authorizes Porter to perform crime prevention strategies worldwide. Here he is beside Chief Carter.
Sgt. Michael N. Ballen received his Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the NC Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission. The certificate is the highest law enforcement certificate a sworn officer can receive in North Carolina. Here he is beside Chief Tandy Carter.
