Speakers Continue

CrimeStoppers President Gary Staymate spoke very highly of the department and its efforts over the past three years, since the last accreditation, in making Shelby a safer place to live.

Staymate said the officers are very open and, while force is used, it's used only when necessary.

The panel is made up of Howard Niemeier, David Fink, and William Shanley - the assessment team from CALEA (The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc.) - which will play a large part in determining whether the SPD earns reaccreditation.

Each comes from a different police agency within the CALEA network.
